Double Ballon Tour of Freiburg ADFC
The ADFC Freiburg will host each year, several guided road bike (and MTB and family) trips into the wider environment and some of Freiburg. I had already participated last year at two such tours (Tour to the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen and route of Crêtes tour) and found both times that these tours very well organized are and make a lot of fun because you can drive long trips in the company of like-minded people that you would not go alone either, or to place only under much more effort would be reached. In addition, these tours make for me is a welcome opportunity to travel in the course of my preparation for various marathons (especially in view of the Ötztal Radmarathon ) long distances beyond 200 km. This year was so they called "double Ballon Tour" on the map, it should be approached first of the Grand Ballon in the Vosges mountains, it should then go on to the Black Forest Sirnitz Belchen. At 8
clock on Sunday morning met at approximately 16 road cyclists (and a road bike activist) in the district of Freiburg St. Georgen to 250km around 3500Hm to be addressed. Also hobby team RIG Freiburg was represented by Udo, Matthias and the author of three riders; Lance and Roberto were for obscure reasons, not the start (the conjecture about the absence of the two went, then as a result towards alcohol-related deficits of second round game of the German national football team on the day before ....). Ingo was no excuse, but he had decided to take the Albextrem the 250km round of attack.
At about quarter past eight starts then: the first Tuniberg to Breisach, thence across the Rhine France. In France, we are going through countless villages, whose names I do not remember me, on the Col du Bannstein (delicious: France is available on every hill a sign "Col de xy") it goes into the climb to the Grand balloon. Meanwhile, there's already eingermaßen warm, and a final well is at the foot of the increase used for filling the beverage reserves. The exact length of the rise I do not have in mind, but with a little downhill and the flat area behind Le Markstein it will probably have been already so 18km. In the last two kilometers, then comes even a little "Tour de France" feeling, but everywhere one reads the Anfeuerungsschriftzüge on the road that used to be last year's Tour de France. After about 90 total miles the (unfortunately terribly built) mountain pass of the Grand is achieved balloon; in located there guest house, we gain our first with a serving of spaghetti (one should explain the French, even in that pasta in salt water boils) and a Cola. After about 45 minutes break, then go to the exit: a really fast downhill with long sweeping corners that require a lot of courage. Over the Col Amic it goes into a short uphill section, before further descent after Uffholtz. Meanwhile in the valley just over 32 degrees is reached, Matthias' Hac shows in the sun at even 36 degrees! What follows is a leisurely drive towards the Rhine and the German border that is happening in Neuchâtel. The speedometer now shows 150km to the south and are piling on the forerunners of a mighty storm. Udo Matthias and decide here in the company of two other drivers a direct route to Freiburg to take, would go the full round them to be late. For the rest of the group we head home, and garbage Badenweiler, where the second major climb of the day should be addressed: the ascent to Albeck. Unfortunately, the pace of the group slept on the way to Badenweiler almost a complete, so that Stefan and I inform the tour leader Jürgen, we down would, as we would all take too long. We quickly put some distance between us and the group. A few drivers close up again, but leave a short time later demolished again. Including a very special friend of mine hehe (I always wanted to go on the mountain from the shoes ;-)). The three of us to come up on the mountain, waiting for just a fourth. The other two decide to wait, but the rest of the group, while Stefan and I decide to continue on the second. Over the short ascent at Wembach it comes down to Schönau into the meadow, from where we have three options for the way home to Freiburg: the intended route of Aitern to Ballon and exits the corner Wiedener the Münster, Utzenfeld about to re-turn through the corner and Munster or Todtnau, cry and Schauinsland. We choose the route through Aitern, but leaving out the side road to Belchen house: the weather is always threatening and also Stefan's legs are very pleased with the idea about these additional savings 300Hm. I myself use the increase as a test of what my legs after 200 kilometers and two relatively quickly driven mountains (especially on Sirnitz I was pretty fast on the road) give more so; I must say I am very satisfied and look quite confident on the marathon that there will still be ( Ötztal and probably still La Marmotte ). Unfortunately, it takes during the rise and is threatening more and more dark and just before the apex of the increase in the first raindrops fall. In the exit of the corner Wiedener it always starts to rain violently to flashing around us and thundered like mad. Thanks to the wind, which is mainly in the descent from behind, we reach speeds that are otherwise impossible to achieve on Wiedener corner. Since it is not, fortunately starts to pour with rain as is, at least for me the rain somewhat pleasant, but he makes for a bit of cooling in a (to me) hot day. The last 40 kilometers from the corner to complete Wiedener Freiburg, we then in a timely trip even if the legs are then but now somewhat empty. After about eleven hours, of 9h 10min pure driving time, we achieve both Freiburg and look forward to a warm bath and something delicious to eat.
was mentioned, the pure drive 9h 10min for 248km, an average speed of around 27km / h. Thanks for the omission of swerving to Belchen house the total altitude of the tour amount to 3200HM. Overall it was a successful Sunday, the ADFC tours are really just, even if in particular the "Route of Crêtes" tour last year landscape more attractive.
