duck well, all good! The deadly seriousness season review
A successful sports year comes to an end, Italy won the World Champion, Paolo Bettini is cycling champions, Ferrari is not able to Formula 1 World Champion, and also Valentino Rossi's was not able . But others have taken the coal from the fire. Started
has my most successful season with the Tour de Berne, I find Paris-Roubaix winner Fabian Cancellara could dissociate by 22 places. This was followed by a fifth place in Breisach, a tenth place in the individual time trial in Gerlafingen. With these successes I was able to increase my career prize money to an incredible 55 euros. With the active support of Matthew, Sebastian and Thomas then also a sixth place in the team time trial in Sulz in Fricktal was inside. And all before the radmarathon season had even begun.
my marathon debut this year I was then on the side of Matt at the GP Schwarzwald in Triberg. This already became apparent that we would make an almost perfectly balanced duo. In the end it was enough for top-5 rankings for both of us.
stood after a training-intensive month of June then (in addition to the festivities in grand style for a world title came to Italian football team), the two most important months of the year in cycling. After me some over-zealous English scribblers my Tour de France as thoroughly as groundless (? Where is the fraud when making all the same) messed up, had I had to just focus on my own goals, were the names as La Marmotte, Arber Radmarathon , Alpenbrevet and Ötztal Cycling Marathon. Thanks to Floyd Landis, I knew then, fortunately, as I was preparing for my goals: hard on the mountain and the glass is strongly the keyword!
stood at a grand weather then first La Marmotte accompanied by Ingo on the program. This classic in the French Alps, all must offer what an Alpine Marathon: renowned passes, magnificent scenery and a mountain top finish, which can be described simply just as legendary. At 6:57 the clock stayed in Alpe d'Huez, are # 71 in a nearly 7,000 drivers of strong competition and the best German in an Italy shirt.
Next, then the Arber cycling marathon. The field is less important and less international, but nevertheless a real bike race down the front. According to exemplary support of Matt and Ingo in the I could complete the initial phase: a top 10 place at one of the heaviest German bike marathons.
The weather is the Alpenbrevet then from his winter side. Thanks to Snow Susten Nufenenpaß and the route is changed. Snow's still doing the Gotthard, which I did not stop everything and give evidence to 7th place once a top 10 place.
The Ötztal is finally the whole crew at the start: Matthias, Sebastian, Jan and Ingo. Here I can to the middle of the race to compete with the very best before I have to then pay the Jaufenpaß but my hell ride a little tribute. However, on Timmelsjoch I can recover some places, so that I finally in the 80th 8:05 Space can occupy. As a say again what the mercy of the late birth 25 years ago I would have distanced this time the former winner of almost incredible 1:40!
After the battery was pretty empty then, and I can end my season slowly. Since mid-October now in the preparation for the 2007 season. My race starts at short distance (less than 150km) I will be kept to a minimum, and I will not run three marathons within four weeks. I will try my start pick out specifically. Only La Marmotte and the Ötztal are set. One of my dreams is to have all five "monuments of cycling in the framework of marathons to complete. The "Ronde" 2007 could represent the beginning of the realization of this dream. Another ambitious goal "Styrkeprøven" is also known as the Trondheim-Oslo. Let's see what can be implemented like this next year.
In this sense, hard on the mountain and strong on the glass! Here's to Matt, Sebastian, Ingo, Thomas and everybody else.
A special thanks goes also to my father who called me (and others) for some events immortalized in digital form, and may have to sweeten the eyes of animals among us to read many a report.
See you in 2007!
